Halloween Tags

Sharing some bookmarks that I have just finished making and I love the new range of red rubber Halloween stamps from IndigoBlu this year. I have used Spooky Girl.

I still use bookmarks a lot and they are always really handy to gift too, especially with your craft swaps. I also just enjoy making them.

The first one I made was stamped with black Versafine Clair ink and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.  I used Craft Artist's Fusion Ink in Hunters Gold for the background.

It's really difficult to see the flecks of gold mica in the misty grey/green background. I used the Berry Fusion ink on the pumpkins for a shimmery glow. These inks are beautiful to use.
For a touch more texture, I have added glossy accent to her eyes and  I added a little Cosmic Shimmer Glitter Kiss in Midnight Sparkle to the background.

My second tag was just stamped in black versafine Clair ink and then coloured in the image like the first tag. I used a sparkle dye based ink in ocean blue to add a  dusky shimmer to the background.  I also made use of some Tattered Lace Halloween die cuts in my stash to embellish my tags.

My third tag was stamped in sepia versafine ink. I bought some wool from a charity shop last year and thought that it would come in handy for projects like this.

I think this is such a cool stamp and one that you can adapt in many ways for your crafting and not just for Halloween and have been looking forward to using this one.

Another week is nearly coming to an end already and the days are starting to get shorter too!
Have a good rest of the week!

Happy crafting

Time - Tag Tuesday

Sharing a  tag which I've made as part of a colour challenge.  The theme was black, white and add another colour.

My other colour I have added is red, in the form of 2 small red lacy hearts.  A piece of red card leftover from a project that I had heat embossed with a lacy stamp using black embossing powder and I then used my heart punch.  That's why crafters never throw anything away!

For my tags, I used my vintage bookmark dies by Tattered Lace and on one of the black tags I used a script embossing folder and rubbed a little cloud white versa magic ink over the raised areas of the tag to highlight the script.

I took a piece of sumi paper and stamped it with my script stamp by Timber Boutique and then heat embossed it with black embossing powder.

I stamped the fob watch stamp by IndigoBlu onto white card and added a crackle accent gloss by Ranger onto the centre dial. I also used the Love You Longer stamp by Visible Image.

I used black soot distress oxide ink to edge the rest of the tag as I put it together and found some black peel offs in my stash to form a chain for the fob watch.  I also added a few drops of glossy accent for interest .

Thank goodness for challenges and swaps because it's also a great excuse to get back to making those projects that you haven't done for a while.

A rummage through your stash to accommodate a theme and then just going where the mood takes you and create....

This particular tag is destined for Tag Tuesday  and I've really enjoyed making this, another thing on my list to get back to doing.
Happy Crafting!

Candle Printing

Another use for tissue paper is with candle printing. You can either stamp onto your tissue paper or print onto like I did. This is a little more fiddly. I like to use scented candles.
First I taped a piece of tissue paper smaller than the A4 sheet of copier paper I was using to print on.
I found if my printer detected an uneven edge when the paper was fed through the, it wanted to chew it up, hence why you need a clear edge all the way around. Once your image has printed onto the tissue side of your paper, it can be cut out leaving border.

Position the tissue image over the candle and wrap a piece of greaseproof paper or wax paper around the candle and hold it in place to secure the image firmly and allowing enough paper for you to hold onto whist heating it. Make sure your heat gun is already hot before introducing the heat to the paper around the candle. Do this gently over the whole image. Once you see moisture on the paper, stop and gently check its done. The top layer of wax will melt enough to embed the tissue into the candle. Do it too much and the candle will warp. Allow to cool. On the orange candle I used an IndigoBlu script stamp with Stazon ink onto the tissue paper.

I used an image on one of Debbi Moore's cd roms for this candle and added a few gems to it.

This by far was my favourite candle to make, probably because its personal to me.
I scanned a picture of my mother-in-law. Here she is sitting on a log, just a few years old reading a copy of The Dandy. A absolutely love this picture and what a great way of preserving your favourite vintage picture. Printed candles like this also make a lovely gift, whether it be for a special occasion or your favourite image.

It also looks cool printing photos onto the tissue, which make a nice gift. You can decorate it how you wish but just remember, that if you actually intend to burn your candle the peel offs, flowers and ribbon will burn too! You can make gifts to mix and match like with this candle and mini screen.
For this oriental candle (I actually make a card to match too). The images I used can be found on the Debbi Moore Oriental cd rom.

The topper has been decoupaged and then layered onto a topper and co-ordinating backing papers. The coin paper embellishment has been embossed with crystal glitter magic

For these card I used the Debbi Moore Bookazine, which unfortunately is no longer available
but these images can be found on the cd rom or USB. I have also used Debbi Moores Print Magic in crystal and some glossy accent to add texture.

This is a larger screen card from the Debbi Moore Oriental collection.

Happy Crafting.

Decopatch

I discovered decopatch after an evening crafting with a few friends.

Decopatch is a decorative funky kind of papercraft, very much like papier mache, only much cooler nowadays. Decopatch is a modern twist on decoupage, creating a vibrant piece of art or allowing you to breathe life into tired objects in need of a re-vamp.

A4 sheets of decopatch tissue paper can be purchased in a mixed pack or individually from craft shops or online. The ones above are an example of what I used on Ralph

Next........came Junior...I was asked to make one in leopard print

Before you know it you find you're slightly addicted.  So with leopard print decopatch paper left over I decided to decorate my daughters dvd box which was looking rather tired.

This wooden fruit bowl I found in a charity shop for 50p. It was tired and shabby but I liked the shape. So I used some bronze/gold crackle decopatch paper to give it new life and sealed it with a coat of decopatch varnish.

I then found myself looking at things to upcycle at car boot sales. I found the perfect children's wooden chair for my next project....the only problem was...it was pink! A quick lick of paint solved that and I decided to decopatch it for a special little boys birthday. I finished it off with a couple of coats of waterproof decopatch varnish to seal it and some wooden letters to personalise it.  Its still going strong today.

My next project was a bit of an experiment using a papier mache mask.  Instead of using tissue paper I decided to use an old music sheet from an old music book that a charity shop had in a box for 25p. I needed to use more glue to get a good adhesion as the music sheets were quite thick. I finished this off with some braiding, crystals, mesh, silk flowers, feathers and mini fascinator. The theme in my head was a venetian mask.

Then I discovered IndigoBlu!  I watched Kay Halliwell-Sutton demo one of her Mannequin slap it on starter kits and was blown away. She stamped onto tissue paper and with some ink and some lush paints from her collection, created some stunning pieces.  I used one of her mannequins and large embellishments for the top of the mannequin, along with some vintage tissue paper to decorate. I finished off with some crystal beaded trim and a few embellishments.

Kindness Postcards

I love a postcard; they come in all shapes and forms, from a reminder of where you have been to a hello friend, but unfortunately, they are ...
