Happy Halloween .....

Happy Halloween.....

Thought that I would share some of my recent drawings of sugar skulls for Halloween.

Catrina

The sugar skull is the symbol of the "day of the dead" or " dia de Los muertos".
For the Mexicans it's a happy celebration of those who have passed on and molded skulls are colourfully painted and decorated in memory.

Rosie

Marigold

Two of these I have made into cards but kept Catrina for my journal.

Tattered Lace Petal of Lace Collection

Following the launch of Tattered Lace Petals of Lace, I am sharing my DT samples made from some of the dies for the launch on Create and Craft TV .

I had the following dies:- Oops, It Wasn't Me, Message of Love, Petals of Lace Rose Carpet, Petals of Lace Square, Zig Zag Rectangle dies, Best Friends stamp set and backing papers from the collection.

Starting with the best friends stamp set.

I also used the flowers to create a background layer for the card and the zig zag rectangle frame die set.

I used the leaves from the hedgehog stamp to embellish the edges of the card and the zig zag rectangle die set again.

One of the sentiment stamps was used for a background panel also. The zig zag rectangle die set created the different panels for my card.

I have used a mix of all the animals in the stamp set for a monochrome background.

Stepper card also using the zig zag rectangle dies and a shaped cream card base.

Petals of lace square die with matching charisma decoupaged, also using the best friends sentiment stamps and background papers from the collection.

An aperture window, using the frame of the petals of lace square die with the charisma and using the centre panel as a hanging aperture.

Using the petals of lace square die and charisma with the Oops die and the best friends stamped sentiment on acetate with the matching backing papers from the collection.  I have also used the petals of lace rose carpet die and matching charisma which has been decoupaged around the centre of the card.

Staying with the Oops dies I have used some of the decoupaged flowers from the petals of lace square die to embellish the card.

The other dies I have used are from the Tattered Lace Fine Filament Portofino collection and the heart die from the Tattered Lace dimensional handbag die set. The backing papers are from my stash, possibly a Trimcraft collection of luxury textured papers.

I have used the Tattered Lace There's no place like home die from the Portmanteau collection for my frame card with the matching backing paper from the collection with the Oops die and petals of lace carpet die. Adding some matching ribbon down the spine and a best friends stamp with the zig zag rectangle dies.

The flowers look equally as nice without the matching charisma papers which are downloadable for free directly from the Tattered Lace website.

I have used the zig zag rectangle dies with the petals of lace carpet die for this invite.

Circle aperture card with an acetate panel with the It wasn't me die and matching charisma paper, also using the backing papers from the collection. I have used the petals of lace carpet die with the matching charisma paper onto glossy paper for a posy of flowers at the top of the card.

Using the same die and a different colour combo, I have used pearlescent paper for the petals of lace rose carpet flowers and snipped into the die/charisma to add another flowerpot of flowers for a slightly different look. This backing paper has a corduroy look to it. I have used the zig zag dies to make a panel card.

Message of love die with the decoupaged flowers from the petals of lace square die to embellish the frame of my flower shaped card using the Tattered Lace quaterfoil die set with the backing papers from the collection.

A different shaped aperture card using the message of love die, best friend sentiment stamp and rose embellishment from the petals of lace carpet die.

Another lovely collection to work with and it was nice to have the mix of stamps to work with this time.

Memory Book

Today I thought I'd share with you a memory book I made for a special little girls first birthday.

These memory books are so easy to make and are a lovely alternative to cards.

Instead of using mdf, I remembered that I had a set of Woodware chippies acetate album templates.
The smallest page is 4  x  4 inches, with the largest being 7 x 4 inches.  For the base, used greyboard, which was sturdy enough for my little album.

I also had these lovely shabby chic A4 double sided paper collection which came free with an issue of Cardmaking magazine.

With some pretty pastel flower eyelets on each board.

To accompany the pictures, I used a mixture of pretty lace, buttons, and embellishments along with the alphabet chipboard letters to spell out her name. It was very handy that her name fits perfectly into the number of pages that I had in the template set.

On the binder rings, added a couple of charms, one being an angels feather and the other being a Hamsa charm.  The Hamsa hand is an all faith protective sign, bringing its owner happiness, luck, health and good fortune.

I love this picture of Ella, it really sums this little cutey up.  I used some Crafters Companion speciality cardstock I also made a gift box.

I love making these memory books.

Say it with flowers - Carnations

Sharing my DT card for the challenge over on Daisy Chains Blog Challenge this month with the theme  "Pink or Halloween."

As I love making cards with dimensional blooms and decided to use these lovely pink carnations from Tattered Lace's Fresco collection for my birthday card, hence opting for the pink theme.

To get the maximum dimension on my flowers but lessen the weight on the front of the card I used a 110gsm white colour printing paper.

This paper doesn't have a coating and moulded pretty well when I used a ball tool to shape them.
When using the Tattered Lace charisma papers, you can guarantee a smooth cut without a white edge due to the extra bleed line around the image, which makes the flowers, in particular, more natural looking.

Pinflair glue gel gives perfect dimension without the smell that some silicone glue gels leave you with.   I have also used the lovely diamond frame die from the Tattered Lace Fresco Collection and a frame die from their Autumn Radiance collection.
