New Home Card in a bag

It's been years since I have made one of these and thought it would be cute combo for a New Home card, except mine will accompany a few chocolates and a bottle of wine!

I have used the Digital Florist Pretty Primula Flower Forming Sheet which comes with 2 bonus plain A4 colour sheets by Opulence by Design.

I printed my flowers as usual onto 120 gsm colour document Navigator paper, which I like to use as it works well for me.

I also used the Digital Florist Pansy Leaf flower forming sheets which also come with the  2 A4 bonus colour sheets.

The colourways of these sheets are just perfect for die cutting your foilage too. I often find it hard to find the right shade to green for my cards and foliage. Also, if you want a perfect match on both sides for your leaves , you can print the lighter colour block page on the other side of your foliage.

For my tote bag I used a 200gsm card to print my plain colour block sheets (double sided) for a bit more structure for my tote bag.

I thought that this project would be a good example to show that this download kit is great for your card craft projects too.

The white feathered edge around these beautiful primulas made it so easy to cut these out with my decoupage scissors. To give them a more natural shape, I cut into a few of the petals so that when I press into the centre of the flower with my ball tool, the petals curve more naturally. You can curl the tips of the petals with the end of a pokey tool too.

I added some lemon pollen head stamens from The Dreamees. They sell some great bundles of multi coloured stamens for your flowers.

I am really loving these Pansy leaves at the moment. I know these are Primulas but when I saw them online, I just thought of all floral projects that I could add them to and liked how they looked when added to these primulas too. They have a natural highlight to them, so when you shape them, they don't look flat. I like to print the lighter plain green colour block on the other side of the leaves so that when I curl them, they mirror the front.

The bunting came from a Tattered Lace die that I remembered I had in my stash and I added some small white peel offs that just fit onto the flags. This one is ready to go now and I've just included one more picture of my own primulas from my garden this year.

New Home Plaque

I thought I'd share a new home plaque that I have made.

The majority of what I have used for my project is by the Dreamees, although I was inspired by the mixed media style from Pretty Gets Gritty.

I covered one of the large mdf baubles with aquamarine design paper which has also been stamped here and there with a script stamp.

I then added and gessoed the mini frame to form the centre point of my plaque. For an extra layer, I included this great brick die by Pretty Gets Gritty which has been cut from grey board and also gessoed.

I wanted the flowers to look distressed and stay firm. I chose these festive fretwork frills because I like their shape and textured petals. I mixed these in with a few divine florals.

All the flowers were dry brushed with gesso and then I added a little of my new favourite colour, one of Andy Skinner's artist pigments in Prussian blue.

The Letter dies have also been die cut out of greyboard twice and gessoed before adding some Stickles in frosted lace. I love my Stickles glitter glue.

As for the bunnies and I had to add these in for this particular project, they have been made using my stamps and air dry clay. To get that shimmer, I gave them a coating of white pearl drops.

I have added a little key and some seed beads here and there and that's my mixed media plaque finished.

Sweet Nothings Collection by Katy Hudson

I thought I'd share my DT samples from a collection I have been working on which are ready for the launch on Create & Craft TV tomorrow.

I love these adorable squirrels using the Perfect Pair die, accompanied by the sweet nothings die and those little blue tits.

The charismas cards come in a pack accompanied by an equal amount of vellum ones to die cut.  The card stock is super smooth and a good weight, with crisp images. No need to download, and ready for you to start crafting.

For each die, I have also made one using the vellum charisma. I included the Thank You die in this card but cut it in half so that I could use the flowers at both ends, not losing the sentiment. On all these samples I have used the matching cardstock, which again is a good heavy weight of card, perfect for card bases or layering with your dies like I have done.

Each die has a topper sheet to match which includes sentiments that you can mix and match with the card from the collection. I have used the Pretty Posies die and charisma for this card mixing it with the topper and card.

With a good selection of toppers you can also make smaller cards. Here I have used the vellum charisma on an acetate panel for my card with the toppers and card stock from the Pretty Posies.

My favourite colours on this card and some pretty card to accompany the collection also.

For my tent shaped floating acetate card I have used the vellum New Home die with the same toppers and cardstock.

The Its a gift die from the Tattered lace Vintage Designer collection was an ideal shape for the Special Couple die due to its bird cage like shape. I have decoupaged it and used it as a hanging topper on the front of the card. I have also included those cute blue tits from the Sweet Nothings dies.

Again I love these colours and its a pretty collection, with lots of elements to use.

A vellum wrap card using the vellum charisma wrap that I have not die cut, just adding the Sweet Nothings die to the edges of the card.

I have used the matching cardstock, some mint green vellum as an insert and the toppers as an insert panel.

A thank you card using the Thank You die and the matching cardstock behind the lacy frame die which has been die cut using the Sweet Nothings cardstock.

An acetate bowed fronted card using the same Thank You die but this time on the vellum.

Back to those cute squirrels adding a touch of the pretty posies on my tent card using the triangle wrap die from the Vintage Designer collection.  The toppers in this collection are easy to mix and match.

This collection does actually have an insert pack available to purchase but it wasn't part of my collection.

Katy Hudson is launching her new papercraft collection on Create and Craft, a full-time Illustrator based in Bristol became obsessed with drawing animals and telling stories.  The idea stuck which led her to studying for a degree in illustration and creating some wonderful illustrations.

New Home Card

Sharing my latest make today, a New Home card, made using Debbi Moore's Tools of the Trade download from her website.

I added the personalised sentiment to the wallpaper and the names to the paint on the paintbrush.

I have decoupaged the rolls of wallpaper along with the brushes to add dimension to the cards and added glossy accent onto the paint for texture.

Finally, I added a personalised verse inside onto a piece of the coordinating backing paper.
