Fairy Themed ATCs Woyww #784

Sharing a set of Fairy themed ATC cards made for a craft group monthly swap using the Gecko Galz Pixie Dream land digital download Kit.

I wanted to make use of as many of these beautiful fairy images that I could as they work perfectly for projects like this.

I'm linking up again this week with What's on your workdesk Wednesday (woyww#784) which is now being hosted by Sarah Brennan (Sarah's Craft shed) follow the link if you are interested to see what like minded folk have been up to and here is a link to the original Stamping Ground about WOYW

A bit more to show you this time, what was on my desk whilst making this project. Apart from knowing what images I wanted to use and cutting them out, the rest was a case of pulling random items out of draws and boxes that I liked the look of and seeing whether I intended to use any of it.

I only wanted to highlight the images and decorate around the edges. I added a touch of luna gold fusion ink to all their  wings and hunters gold around the edges of the card, which gave the card a lovely metallic green glow. I added a little silky satin wool to finish.

I sometimes manage to pick the wool up in charity shops. I'm fortunate to find random balls of beautiful wool or thread like this, probably left over from a project which is a great lucky find to craft with!

With this card, I added some henna mica flakes in between the seed beads, glossy accents and some fine rainbow thread.

On my final card I used the sparkly black twilight thread and added a little hunters gold through parts of the tread. I've also added one of the larger iridescent floral beads with the smaller ones.

My ATC cards needed a little folder which I made from a piece of card.  I had some leafy paper from my crafty stash that covered it nicely and added a sentiment across the front of the image before printing .

I popped the little embellishment that I had previously made inside the folder with my cards, as I thought that it fit the theme perfectly.

The butterfly was from the  Butterfly Wings Digital Collage Set.

I enjoy making ATC cards and these have been fun to make too. There are loads of inspiration on Gecko Galz blog along with links to their DT for you to follow. Have a look at their challenges and all the wonderful free inspiration available for you to download along with details on where to buy their kits too.

Have a great day,  whatever you have planned for yourself.

Birthday Bunny ATC cards

A couple of ATC cards to share today which I made using this month's digi stamp free download from Imagine that digi stamp for their monthly progressive challenge.

This month with these adorable digi stamps, I decided to make some ATC cards, another one of those crafts I really enjoy doing and on my list to get back to making and swapping this year.

I coloured my image with some promarkers and shimmered the balloon, then layered it onto some coloured card with a top layer of sumi paper that had been heat embossed with a worded stamp (leftover from another project). A little ribbon behind the sentiment and a few gems.
For my second card, I used the pre coloured digi image and added the extra pre coloured circle discs which i reduced in size. I added enough glossy accent to these to make them dome an set  into embellishments and was really happy with how they turned out.

I could have made a birthday card with cute little digi stamps but decided on an alternative by making these ATC cards and now these cards are ready for me to send, swap or make some more.

Hand drawn ATC cards inspired by Tim Burton characters

Its been a while since I have made some ATC cards so decided to draw a few and see where it took me. As I'm a big fan of Tim Burton, I decided to start with a few of my favourite characters and Halloween seemed a perfect day to share them.

Emily - Corpse Bride

This is the story of a shy young man who goes into the woods to practise his wedding vows for his wedding day but accidentally becomes married to a corpse bride (Emily).

Sparky - Frankenweenie

I then moved onto Frankenweenie and Victor's dog Sparky.  This is a heartwarming tale
of a boy's love for his dog. After Victor unexpectedly loses his beloved dog Sparky in an accident, Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back from the dead with a few complications.
Edgar E Gore - Frankenweenie

Victor trusts his creepy friend Edgar E Gore to keep his secret by bringing Edgar's dead goldfish back to life......but of course he doesn't. Love this film, recommend you watch it.

Jack Skellington - The Nightmare Before Christmas

I then moved onto The Nightmare Before Christmas. This is the story of Jack Skellington, the King of Halloween Town who discovers Christmas Town, but in his attempts to bring Christmas to his own town causes utter chaos. With Sally his rag doll love and the meddling Oogie Boogie. Naturally, all does not go according to plan.

Sally & Jack Skellington - The Nightmare Before Christmas

Edward Scissorhands

Another Tim Burton classic, Edward Scissor Hands.  A story of a synthetic young man created by his eccentric inventor (like Pinocchio) but due to his father's untimely death he was not completed and is left with shears for hands.

I don't tend to make and send Halloween cards unless for a project or craft swap but love to see the imaginative cards that other crafters make, which is wonderful.

ATC cards - Kokoshi Doll digi stamps

Sharing some more ATC cards made for a swap using Vera Lane's digi stamps.  The Kokeshi digi stamps were downloaded from the Etsy website.

I used Tim Holts Distress oxides in picked raspberry, seedless preserves, wild honey, twisted citron, candied apple and abandoned coral. I used a script stamp by IndigoBlu using The Dreamees pearlescent reinkers, as well as using them to colour in the digi images. The only exception was their faces, which I used a flesh coloured promarker from my stash.  I added a  little semi-transparent "maths" washi tape for a little more detail.

This set of digi stamps are absolutely adorable and I love the digi stamps created by Vera Lane.
The Vera Lane Studios blog is packed with inspiration also.

ATC backgrounds using an Acrylic Chalk Mousse Medium

Two Artist Trade Cards made on a Tim Holtz distress oxide ink background with an acrylic chalk mousse medium and angelina fibre dragonflies.

Whilst in Lidl the other day some art stuff caught my eye. This box of pastel acrylic mousse mediums with a chalky finish, looked really interesting.

I had some of the background I made for my heart plaque left which I made using Tim Holtz distress oxides inks in frayed burlap, pickled raspberry, abandoned coral and candied apple.  I thought that this would make an ideal background for the ATCs especially as it also had a chalky finish.

Using a mandala stencil I first used the pastel blue mousse. I have a few craft boards for the various crafting I do, so that I don't get paint, ink and gesso over them all.

This was really easy to use and the mousse settled and dried quite quickly.  I then repeated this process with the lilac as you can see above.

While they were drying I made the dragonflies using some of the angelina fibres and film by Crafty Notion

Using some baking parchment underneath,  make a sandwich with the film (I've used crystal aurora) and the fusible angelina fibres ( I've used sugar plum).

Using a warm iron gentle smooth over the area. I have a small iron I use for crafting and temperatures vary depending on what you use.

It should look something like this, fused together

On its own it would make a great background but it also die cuts really well. Film & Fibres is one of those craft products you buy for a project and often forget about. When you re-discover it again in your stash you remember just how versatile it is.  I have in the past used my stamps with this and made beautiful iridescent butterflies with it.  Something I will do again and put in a blog post for the future.

Once die cut it makes a beautiful rainbow coloured embellishment.

I used a small amount of the raspberry sparkle angelina fibres under the label Free which I stamped using the same backing paper. I glued the dragonflies and fibres to attach the label with a little pinflair glue gel.

With a parchment tool I pricked the edge of the label

The light catches the wings beautifully

finished off with a few pearls and backed onto some coordinating card.

Magik Graphics - Belleza Mortals CD ATCs

I decided to see if I could use the Magik Graphics Belleza Mortals cd to make a set of ATCs.

First, I started with the Sugar Skull Hattie collection of images and templates within the folder of the cd. I imported the images into Craft Artist and sized them down to just smaller than the ATC size ( 2 . 5   x 3 . 5 inches) and printed onto 210gsm photo paper. The graphics are so sharp that when you manipulate them the resolution and quality are not compromised. I found that they printed out really well using the fast/normal setting on my printer (as my printer is temperamental with cardstock) and using normal/everyday printing (saving on ink).

I decoupage the images and used pinflair glue gel to create some dimension on the cards and layered them onto black cardstock.

Sugar Skull - Hattie

I did exactly the same for six of the collections I chose from the cd, this being Sugar Skull Vivid Candy.

Finishing off with a few embellishments
Sugar Skull - Vivid Candy

Sugar Skull Roxy

Sugar Skull Poppy Blue

Sugar Skull Platinum Flame

Sugar Skull Calypso

These proved to be extremely popular for my swap and I'm so pleased they went down well with the group I swapped them with, as the artwork by Susan Andrews from Magik Graphics is go good and very unique that I wanted to do them justice.
